Because of its natural beauty and harbour Eden is a popular tourist destination almost doubling in size during the summer season with many visitors coming to experience the great inshore and offshore fishing.

Throughout its history, the ES&GFC has repeatedly recorded catches of various fish species including Yellow and Blue fin Tuna, Thresher and Mako Sharks, Broadbill and Short bill Spearfish and Marlin.  As a club affiliated with both the Game Fishing Association Australia (GFAA) and the Australian National Sportfish Association (ANSA) we hold several past and present Australian and NSW GFA records for fish caught in our surrounding waters

The club also strongly supports the NSW fisheries Tag and Release (T&R) program with more than half of our club and tournament prizes being awarded based on points for T&R fish.

Our annual Eden Open Invitational Game Fishing Tournament is held in early April each year.  The tournament is a 3 day event and attracts 40-50 boat teams from up and down the coast and offers prizes with a total value in excess of $10000.

Eden is fortunate to have excellent boat launching and trailer parking facilities.  Quarantine Bay located on the outskirts of the town has a 4 car wide public boat ramp, trailer parking, boat washing and fish cleaning facilities and is the location of the ES&GFC gantry and weigh scales for those big catches.

Eden is the only deep-water harbour facility between Jarvis Bay and Melbourne and as such we receive regular visits from Naval and commercial ships, the occasional cruise ship and oil-rig tenders, as well as having our own fishing boat fleet. Because of the harbour and the location of Quarantine Bay, pleasure craft can launch and head straight to see with no tricky bar crossing’s to negotiate.  Once at sea there are many fishing grounds to explore.  The layout of the coast and bays around Eden provides sheltered waters that can be fished in all weather conditions, there is always a fishing spot to be found with seasonal catches of Flathead, Snapper, Jewfish, Bonito, Australian Salmon and many other species to be had.  A popular destination for some hard fighting Kingfish is Mowarry about 10min steaming south of Eden.  A little further south is Greencape which is also very popular for Kingfish.  City Rock and  Pulpit at Greencape are well regarded by land based game fishermen with good catches of Yellow Fin Tuna and other species recorded over the years.  Further a field there have been regular catches of Marlin and Tuna species recorded during the season. The proximity of Eden to the continental shelf, only about an hour steaming, means that there are many under sea canyons to fish.  The water flowing through these canyons is often directed upwards bringing with it warmer currents and some prized catches.

At the Eden Sport and Game Fishing Club all anglers, young and old, who have a passion for game fishing are welcome.
